The Bar
Communiqué emanating from Beirut and Tripoli Bar Associations
The Beirut and Tripoli Bar Associations condemn the attack that targeted the Iranian Embassy in Beirut and killed many people; an attack that is part of organized terrorism. Both Bar Associations claim that it would be impossible to get rid of this critical and dangerous situation except by supporting the state institutions and admitting its legitimacy and its unique power. The two Bar Associations call on the parties to unite around an exceptional dialogue table and to come out with a national historic position terminating the vacuum prevailing, leading to the constitution of a government to deal with the exceptional situation, anchoring the foundations for a robust system and ending the system of prohibited or impossible security.
The two Presidents of Beirut and Tripoli Bar Associations, Georges Jreij and Michel Khoury, called on their colleagues the lawyers to refrain from attending the hearings on next Thursday, for one hour, from eleven till twelve a.m., as a condemnation, protest and mourning.
